Pele of my school??

Ok, so i need all of your opinion...so i walk into school today to check out my room...i am contacted by our athletic director and assistant principal for an immediate meeting. So i show up, they have big smiles on their faces, and they offer me the Varsity Soccer Coach position...this is with my U-14 experience..they want me to be in charge of the whole soccer program..hmm.

Do I take it?

Do I keep my JV legacy going?

I don't know...what do you think?

Whoa Ben, that's quite a decision.
Question #1: What does Becky think?
Although I know you would be a great coach for the guys and a tremendous influence in their lives, remember that you don't have to say yes....
unless that's what you feel you're supposed to do.

Ben, I agree with mom. What does Becky think? Don't say yes because you can't say no. You decision should be what is in your heart.

T-I-M-E is of the essence here. What an opportunity. You know as I know, admin always snatch up young teachers to fill their openings. You would do a phenomenal job; doing it well is not the issue. I would say if you and the wife come in agreement on it, then go for it. Know that this is the time when you will be more apt to coach and spend that time away from home. A whole other story when los ninos come. If you guys can do it together, wow! Steph and I would love to do the same someday! It may be the season for it, but no that even though it's the hardest thing to do (for me atleast) say NO and they will understand. Also, your AD might not value education and teaching in the classroom like you do, and is willing to compromise the time and effort you put into authentic and relevant learning opportunities that expell high performance from your students, just for the "soccer head coach" position. You're an awesome teacher, Benny.

By the way, do you want to e-mail me all your students names? If you haven't already, read my blog from Sunday night. jlampi@pcs.k12.mi.us
