Baby's First Race

Over the past weekend we ran a team marathon with Becky's sister Kristin and her husband Mike. This marks the official start to the running career of our newest addition. Becky ran a 5 mile section of the marathon and did great. Minus a 20 minute delay on our last exchange (due to the shuttle driver's fault) we would have come in 27th place overall, out of 80 teams. Not bad for our first team relay. It was fun had by all and we already are shining our shoes for the Bellevue marathon sequel.

Congradualtions to the "team" of 5. I am sure the baby Gaines Becky is carrying helped her through the 5 mile portion of the run. Baby Gaines will have a challenge to beat grandpa's 3'47". Love U both.

Baby's First Race inspired me to suggest a few names that might work:
Adi (Adidas)
Reba (Reebok)
Newton (New Balance)
Ike (Nike without the N)
Connie (Converse)
Brooks (Brooks)
or not

All right, Lena, I want to know how long it took you to come up with those names. Ike's pretty clever. Does it seem odd that a pregnant gal ran a longer race than three men in the primes of their lives (read two posts below)? I'm just kidding, boys, don't get all defensive. Congratulations, guys!

I'm pretty sure Rebecca could lap all of us in the 1600m. I've ran with her and Ben before up Glendora Mountain Road and she left Ben and I in the dust. May I suggest the name Flo Jo in dual honor of Florence Gritth Joyner (gold medalist) and Lena Jo Gaines (g-ma of baby to be)
