the glass is half...

Like most UofM fans I couldn't wait for the maize and blue to redeem themselves this week, to quiet the critics, to show last week was a fluke...unfortunately, it wasn't a fluke, this years team is a lot weaker than expected. And unfortunately at Michigan one bad year is enough, so Carr will likely be forced out Steve Fisher style at the end of the year. I'm sticking with him though so here are five ways the season could get better...
  1. We could win out and finish with the typical 2 L's (least likely)
  2. We could go to East Lansing and pound an over confident Spartan Team (Jeff's getting red)
  3. We could win the Big Ten and go to the Rose Bowl (2nd least likely)
  4. We could beat the Buckeyes and ruin their undefeated season??
  5. We can rebuild for next year by giving young players a lot of PT.
My pessimistic prediction though is that its as bad as it looks, our defense will have a hard time stopping anyone, we'll struggle to be 500 and if lucky win a Bowl game in December

Here's my take:

Appalachain State was no fluke. Let's be honest...this team is just not that good, and are simply getting beat (and outcoached) by better teams. Lloyd and his staff have now been outcoached in 4 straight games and so I think a big shake up is needed at the end of the year. I personally like Lloyd, but it seems the game has passed him by and he needs to retire. As far as our players... I'm simply in awe of their lack of overall speed and toughness. With the exception of Mike Hart, there seems to be no heart, and very little pride in wearing the maze and blue.

Henne looks below average, Mario who?, the O-line needs #76, the D-Line has made no tackles, I couldn't name a linebacker b/c they've made so few tackles, our DB's get stiff armed and fly 5 feet, and why can't we recruit a kicker with a leg?

Have I bagged the season? Am I wearing a Trojan jersey? Of course not, but it seems to me that we'll be lucky to make a bowl game at this point and next week's game vs. 0-2 Notre Dame should be a classic. Hart guaranteed a win in the post-game news conference, and he'll have to have over 200 yds with the game now in the hands of Mallet who looks very much like a high school QB.

My prediction for how this plays out...by the time we get to OSU we'll be 5-6. Mike Hart won't let us lose 4 in a row and wills us to Lloyd's last victory. Two weeks after the Compac.com bowl in Boise we hire Les Miles (LSU head coach) and the next legacy begins!

Andrew, always intersting incite from you. Never thought of that.

We'll have to follow LSU this season to see what type of offense and defense UM will have next year.
