Mr. Yoder explaining how the evaporator boils down the sap into syrup. He was born on this farm, and when his son-in-law takes over some day, he'll be the 5th generation to run it.
Family portrait, courtesy of our friend Scott.
The weekend before Easter we headed North of town with our friends Scott and Catherine and their kids, to Yoder's Sugar Bush to see/learn about/eat some maple syrup. Cash had a great time in the hiking backpack we borrowed, I "helped" saw a log, and we all left with bellies full of pancakes. It was pretty cool. Thought you might enjoy some photos.

I was the beneficiary of a bottle of syrup and it was delicious. Thank you S, W & C.
Is it just me or in that bottom picture, Wes looks like he put on a healthy 15 lbs.....must be the griddle cakes...
Sarah still is JUNO.
I bet Cash loved the machinery and such. Nice field trip. Miss you guys.
I saw this yellow thing in the sky yesterday? It was like bright and it cast a warm shadow on my arm? Wow...Michigan is sweet!
Yeah, Cash had a great time. He kept trying to see around Wes's head! Wes is going to kill you for the 15 lb. mention--you know he's sensitive about his weight, man. Actually, he made sure to let everyone know that he was wearing a "very thick" quilted flannel. He's still skinny.
my bad on the weight comment... us skinny guys like our girlish figures. you make that Lumberjack shirt look good my man. Woops, almost like a comment we've heard before after the Duck Race.
I believe the word she used was "physique."
You physique guys just look at Norm and me and salivate.
