Post-Evangelical??

Its been both interesting and exciting to watch the dramatic shifts that are occurring in the American church today. The term "evangelical" seems to be on its way out the door (article), and along with it some of the theology and ecclesiology that accompanies the label are being abandoned. Those who have left the ways of evangelicalism have often referred to themselves as "post-evangelical". What is post-evangelical? (Post-evangelical article) And here's a great take on the Emerging Movement (Emerging Article). Scot McKnight's blog Jesus Creed also has some great stuff on it. Anyways that's what I've been exploring lately. Any thoughts or observations?

so, what should we do with all those boxes of spare tracts in our basement? i'm all for toning it down a little (or a lot) and getting back to the roots.

I think some of Scott McKnight's stuff is helpful to understand where we are and where we may be going. I completely agree with his fundamental EM statement that the gospel must be lived out and be holistic in nature. I also think some of his potential pitfalls are well heeded. Espeically the one about the EM becoming a sort of insiders club for the white, suburban middle class kind of church goer. I'd like to read Eddie Gibbs and Ryan Bolgers book called Emerging Churches since Eddie was probably my favorite professor at Fuller who carries of wealth of experience and insight.
